2024-Internship Program at the Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles

The Consulate General of Pakistan, Los Angeles is offering unpaid internship positions for undergraduate and graduate students in the United States colleges and universities. Students chosen for the program are required to participate as an intern on a full-time/part-time basis. The internship program gives students valuable work experience in a challenging foreign affairs arena.

Please note that this is an unpaid internship though participants may be eligible for Academic Credit. Kindly confirm the policy from your institution first. Applications are only being invited from within United States.

Pakistan National Day Celebrated with traditional zeal and fervor at the Consul General’s Residence in Los Angeles

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles proudly hosted a vibrant and memorable celebration of Pakistan’s National Day at the residence of the Consul General. This event witnessed a significant turnout from the Pakistani American community.

The event commenced with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony following which the Consul General read out the messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The messages underscored the significance of the National Day as a milestone in Pakistan’s journey towards progress and prosperity.

Following the messages, the Consul General engaged the audience with an enlightening discourse on the importance of Pakistan’s National Day. He highlighted Pakistan’s stature as a significant strategic power, emphasizing its position as the world’s fifth-largest population and the 24th largest economy by purchasing power parity. He also articulated the promising potential of Pakistan to ascend as one of the foremost economies globally in the decades to come.

In the end prominent members of the Pakistani American community shared their thoughts on the significance that Pakistan’s National Day holds for them and thanked the Consulate General for arranging the event. Press Release on Kashmir Solidarity Day 2024

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles organized a commemorative public event on February 5th, 2024, to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day. The event took place at the Mission and drew participation of academicians, members of the ethnic media, experts, as well as individuals from both the Kashmiri-American diaspora and the Pakistani-American community. The primary objective of this event was to convey a strong message of solidarity with the people in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).

Consul General Mr. Asim Ali Khan provided a comprehensive briefing to the attendees regarding the importance of Kashmir Solidarity Day and its various dimensions especially the grave situation in IIOJK since August 2019. He underscored that despite the egregious violations of fundamental human rights perpetrated by India against the oppressed Kashmiri people, their determination remained unwavering. The Consul General reaffirmed Pakistan’s unflinching political, moral, and diplomatic support to the people of Jammu and Kashmir until the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination, in accordance with the pertinent United Nations Security Council Resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiris. Additionally, the Consul General also read messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on this occasion.

Following the Consul General’s address, a series of remarks were delivered by distinguished speakers, including Mr. Eugene Volokh, an American Legal Scholar and the Gary T. Schwartz Professor of Law at the University of California, Los Angeles; Dr. Ghulam Nabi Mir, President of the World Kashmir Awareness Forum and Chairman of the Kashmir Coalition; Mr. Jonathan Amir Hatami, Deputy District Attorney with the Los Angeles County Office; Mr. Jamal Khawaja, President of the Grand Alliance for Pakistan (GAFP); Mr. Mahmood Saifee, a member of California’s Democratic Party; Mr. Arif Mansuri, Chairman of the Planning Commission for the City of Fullerton, California, and Chairman of ‘Friends of Pakistan’; and Mr. Waqar Ali Khan, Chairman of OPTV Global.

The speakers condemned the atrocities being committed by Indian occupation forces in IIOJK and urged the international community to ensure the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination. They also highlighted the critical importance of upholding human rights for all without any discrimination.

The event concluded with the Consul General distributing certificates of appreciation among the speakers thanking them for their participation and support for the Kashmir cause.

Celebration of Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day anniversary and Official Flag Hoisting Ceremony

A dignified ceremony to celebrate Pakistan’s 76th Independence Day anniversary was held at Pakistan House, the official residence of the Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles on 14 August 2023.

The festive event was attended by notable members of Pakistani-American community in California and local dignitaries including the city Mayor, Honorable Mr. George Chen.

Following the Tilawat and the flag-hoisting, Consul General, Mr. Asim Ali Khan highlighted the historical significance of the day, acknowledged contributions being made by the Pakistani-American community and apprised them of the recent measures being taken by the Government of Pakistan to facilitate oversees Pakistanis.

The Consul General emphasized on the need for unity and harmony among the Pakistani-American community and urged them to redouble their efforts for the socio-economic development of their motherland. He urged the community to come forward and avail themselves of the economic opportunities in various sectors of Pakistan’s economy including traditional exports and Information Technology. He also briefed them on the continuation of the democratic process in Pakistan, measures taken by the government for protection of human rights and for establishing rule of law in the country, as enshrined in the Constitution.

He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Consulate General of Pakistan in further improving the standard of services being provided by the Mission to the Pakistani-Americans residing in its jurisdiction i.e. the along the West Coast.

Mayor George Chen emphasized the strong bond between the Pakistani-American community and the city of Torrance and commended the contributions of Pakistani-Americans in various fields. He felicitated the community on Pakistan’s Independence Day anniversary.

Celebration of National Day of Pakistan

The National Day of Pakistan was celebrated in California and other parts of the West Coast with traditional zeal and fervor. To commemorate the Pakistan Day, a Flag-hoisting ceremony was organized by the Consulate General of Pakistan Los Angeles.

A significant number of Pakistani-American community members on the West Coast attended the ceremony.

The messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were read out following the Flag hoisting.

During his remarks on the occasion, Consul General Mr. Asim Ali Khan appreciated the contributions made by the Pakistani-American community and highlighted the need for the community to work together to address the challenges facing the motherland.

The Consul General underscored that Pakistan, besides being the fifth largest country in the world in terms of population, has taken tremendous strides in terms of development since its inception and will remain relevant and integral to the international community despite current challenges.

The Consul General also highlighted the positive role that the Pakistani-American community can play in projecting a positive image of Pakistan abroad, strengthening Pak-U.S. relations and for the economic development of Pakistan.
