Q) How long will my Visa application take to process?

Normal processing time for most visa applications is between 7 to 10 working days.

Depending on the type of visa applied, a longer period may be necessary if the documents are incomplete or require additional security clearance.

Please regularly check your email to make sure you have not been asked to provide additional documents or if your visa has not already been approved, before contacting the Consulate.

Q) What is Pakistan’s Covid-19 policy for inbound travelers. Are only PCR tests acceptable. Is the test required 48 or 72 hours before travel?

Q) Do I have to submit the Power of Attorney (PoA) in person or can I do it online. What are the requirements for PoA?

Power of Attorney can be submitted online as well as in person. Online applications can be initiated here. Kindly go through the list of required documentation carefully before submitting your online application.

For applicants applying ‘In Person’ the following documentation is required:

  1. Power of Attorney Document
  2. Original NICOP/CNIC
  3. Passport size picture
  4. Attestation Fee in the form of money order or Cashier’s Cheque (US $ 30 per document, per executant).

Q) How will I know if my visa has been approved or not. Will I find out through phone or email?

As soon as your visa is approved an automatically generated email informing you of it’s status will be sent to the email you provided during your application. You are requested to please check your email before contacting the Consulate to inquire about the status of your visa.

Q) Do I need to get an Appointment before visiting the Consulate?

Although online appointments can be made, they are not strictly necessary before visiting the Consulate. You can walk in anytime between 9:30 am to 4 pm Mondays through Fridays (barring public holidays).

Q) What is the Attestation process for documents issued by US entities?

All documents (such as birth, death, marriage, divorce certificates and educational degrees, etc.) issued by the US entities needing attestation of the Consulate General of Pakistan must be first notarized by the Authentication Office of the US Department of State.
