Online Power of Attorney Attestation Services

Attestation of a document other than the power of attorney:

All documents (such as birth, death, marriage, divorce certificates and educational degrees, etc.) issued by the US entities needing attestation of the Consulate General of Pakistan must be first notarized by the Authentication Office of the US Department of State.

All documents (such as birth, death, marriage, divorce certificates and educational degrees, etc.) issued by the departments of the Government of Pakistan needing attestation of the Consulate General of Pakistan have to be first notarized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Islamabad or its four camp offices in the provincial capitals.

For the attestation of photocopies of Pakistani Passports, the Presentation of original Passports is mandatory.

These documents can be submitted to the Consulate General of Pakistan in person or via postal mail because the personal presence of the applicant is not necessary for the attestation of such type of documents. A self-addressed, pre-paid return envelope with tracking number {if the applicant desires the return of the attested document via post}

Attestation of Pension Documents:

For attestation of Pensioner’s signature on Pension paper/ Life Certificate, the personal presence of Pension holder before the consular officer at Consulate General of Pakistan is mandatory.

If the Pensioner is unable to come in person due to health/ domestic reasons, He/she needs to get the documents notarized prior to sending to the Consulate General of Pakistan with copies of Pakistani Passport/NICOP/CNIC and details of an operational Contact number, time of availability for Video call (The Consular officer will make a video call at given contact number and time for verification).

Attestation of a Power of Attorney:

Consulate General of Pakistan, Los Angeles no longer accepts Power of Attorney for attestation through the mail. Deponent/Executant of the power of attorney must be physically present at the Consular office of the Consulate General of Pakistan along with his/her original valid Passport/NICOP. The applicant would be required to sign the document in the presence of the consular officer. Please ensure that you have the following documents with you before approaching the consular section of the Consulate General of Pakistan, Los Angeles.

Documents Requirement for Attestation of Power of Attorney:

A) Pakistani or Dual Nationals in possession of valid Pakistani Passport or NADRA Cards (CNIC, NICOP, POC)

  • The original power of attorney.
  • Deponent’s original valid Pakistani Passport/NICOP/CNIC and copies of Passport and NICOP.
  • A recent passport size photograph affixed on Power of Attorney by the executant/executants is/are mandatory.

  • Proof of Residence in our area of jurisdiction e.g. copy of state ID card or Driving License (Our Consular jurisdiction covers States of California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Alaska and Montana).
  • Power of Attorney by a minor would only be attested on production of a guardianship certificate issued by a Court.
  • Processing fee in shape of Money order/Cashier’s check of $36.00 per Document. If a power of attorney, affidavit, etc. is signed by more than one person, the fee will be multiplied accordingly.

B) US Nationals of Pakistan Origin currently NOT in possession of valid Pakistani Passport or NADRA Cards (CNIC, NICOP, POC)

  • Persons holding US passports but not in possession of valid Pakistani Passport or NADRA Cards (CNIC, NICOP, POC) are required to attest their documents first by the legalization department of the State Department in Washington DC.
  • Personal appearance along with original and copies of US IDs (Passport or Driving License) are mandatory
  • Processing fee in shape of Money order/Cashier’s check of $36.00 Per Document.

Note: All fees are payable in US postal money orders or cashier cheques (No Cash or Personal Cheques) made payable to the Consulate General of Pakistan, Los Angeles.

All fees are non-refundable.

No prior appointment is necessary. Applicants will be attended on a first-come-first-served basis Mon- Fri (except a public holiday) between 10:00 a.m. 1:00 p.m. We follow Pacific Time (PT).

Note: in case of having no Pakistan ID papers like Identity Card/ Passport or a non- Pakistani, any document like Power of Attorney, Affidavit, will require prior attestation by the US Department of State before getting it attested from the consulate.
