PRESS RELEASE: Seminar on the Occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, February 5 2025

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles hosted a seminar, to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day. The event, held at the Mission, saw participation from ethnic media representatives, experts, and prominent members of the Pakistani-American community. The seminar was dedicated to reaffirming solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).

Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles, Mr. Asim Ali Khan, delivered a comprehensive briefing on the significance of Kashmir Solidarity Day, particularly highlighting the dire situation in IIOJK. He emphasized that despite India’s ongoing human rights violations against the people of IIOJK, their resolve remains unshaken. The Consul General reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people, advocating for the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination, in line with United Nations Security Council Resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He also read special messages from the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to the attendees.

A documentary, illustrating the resilience of the Kashmiri people in the face of India’s brutalities and illegal occupation, was screened during the seminar. Leaders from community organizations, including Friends of Pakistan (FOP) and the Pakistan American Chamber of Commerce (PACC), also voiced their unwavering support for the oppressed people of IIOJK.

Dr. Farooq Ahmad, Professor of History at Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad, and Dr. Zafar Nawaz Jaspal, Meritorious Professor of International Relations and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at Quaid-i-Azam University, shared insightful remarks. They traced the historical roots of the conflict in South Asia, its far-reaching implications for regional peace and security, and the indifference and double standards of the international community, particularly major world powers.

The participants expressed their gratitude to the Consulate General for organizing the seminar and for raising awareness about the enduring dispute over Jammu and Kashmir. They reaffirmed their support for the just cause of the Kashmiri people and their commitment to standing in solidarity with them.

The Consulate General also raised awareness about the Jammu and Kashmir dispute through social media platforms, emphasizing the solidarity expressed by Pakistan and the overseas Pakistani community for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
