40th Pakistan International Carpet Exhibition from 9-11 October 2024: Unleashing the Potential of Handmade Carpets

Pakistan Carpet Manufacturers & Exporters Association (PCMEA) in collaboration with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) will organize 40th Pakistan International Carpet Exhibition from 9-11 October 2024 in Lahore. The export of handmade carpets is an area with immense potential for growth and Pakistan can potentially double the export to significantly boost the inflow of foreign exchange into the country. The organizers will provide three Nights Complimentary Stay at the Faletti’s Hotel, Lahore during the exhibition and Airfare Compensation up to $500 USD (equivalent in Pakistani Rupees) for travel expenses to the participants.

Press Release: Consulate General of Pakistan Los Angeles Celebrates 78th Independence Day with Flag Hoisting Ceremony

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles commemorated the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony at Pakistan House. The event, marking the 78th Independence Day of Pakistan, was attended by distinguished guests including Consuls General from various countries, Mayors, local officials, notable members of the Pakistani-American community based in Southern California, and ethnic media.

The ceremony commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Consul General Asim Ali Khan raised the national flag of Pakistan, symbolizing the pride and unity of the Pakistani nation. The national anthem of Pakistan was also played on the occasion. In his remarks, the Consul General extended a warm welcome to all participants, expressing gratitude for their presence and support.

In his address, the Consul General reflected on the significance of August 14, 1947, as a day of immense importance for Pakistan. He paid tribute to the sacrifices of Pakistan’s forefathers, who secured a homeland for future generations. He highlighted Pakistan’s journey as a resilient nation, overcoming challenges and emerging stronger, with a firm commitment to the ideals of its founder, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

The Consul General also shed light on recent developments in Pakistan, including the stabilization of the economy, the introduction of reforms aimed at improving governance. He emphasized Pakistan’s growing influence on the world stage, its active role in regional peace and security, and its contributions to international forums.

The event also celebrated the vibrant Pakistani-American community, recognizing their significant contributions to American society in various fields, including technology, management, medicine, law, finance and the arts. The Consul General acknowledged the community’s role as a bridge between Pakistan and the United States and encouraged the younger generation to stay connected with their cultural roots.

The ceremony concluded with a message of hope, resilience, and unity. Consul General Khan called on all Pakistanis, both at home and abroad, to work together towards a prosperous and peaceful Pakistan. He expressed his deep appreciation for the unwavering support of the Pakistani-American community and extended warm wishes for a happy and prosperous Independence Day.

The special messages of the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan were also read on the occasion.

The Consulate General also recognized outstanding community services of community organizations and awarded commendation certificates.

Press Release: California State Senate Honors Pakistani Independence Day Resolution

The California State Senate unanimously adopted a resolution today titled “Pakistani-American Relations” in honor of the upcoming 78th Independence Day of Pakistan on August 14, 2024. Mr. Asim Ali Khan, the Consul General of Pakistan in Los Angeles led a delegation to Sacramento, as the official representative of the Government of Pakistan to witness the Senate’s proceedings. Other officials of the Consulate General and prominent members of Pakistani-American community also joined the delegation.

California Senator Josh Newman, a well-wisher of Pakistan and a friend of the Pakistani-American community, introduced the resolution, which was passed with consensus. The resolution has been widely appreciated by the Pakistani-American community in California and the people of Pakistan in different parts of the world.

As the largest state in the U.S., California’s resolution is a testament to the strong bonds and mutual respect shared by the two nations and their peoples. The resolution also acknowledges Pakistan’s leadership role in inspiring other nations in their pursuit of liberty, justice, and equality.

This constructive legislative step highlights the invaluable contributions of the Pakistani-American diaspora. Such initiatives will not only foster deeper cooperation between Pakistan and the United States but also serve as a catalyst for the Pakistani-American community to further strengthen the ties between our two countries. The California Senate has set a commendable precedent.

The delegation also interacted with house majority and minority leaders, the Speaker and other California legislators including those from South Asian descent.

Today marks a historic moment for Pakistan-U.S. relations and the Pakistani-American community, as both houses of California’s legislature—the State Senate and the State Assembly—concurrently recognized the significance of Pakistan-U.S. relations and honored Pakistan’s delegation during their sessions. The Consul General conveyed warm wishes to the leadership of both houses on behalf of the Government of Pakistan and conveyed gratitude to legislators in both houses on behalf of the Pakistani-American community based in California.

Earlier, the Los Angeles County also passed a resolution on August 7 2024 proclaiming August 14 2024 as “Pakistan Independence Day” in Los Angeles County. The resolution encouraged participation in Pakistan Independence Day festivals taking place during the month.

Seminar on the Occasion of Youm-e-Istehsal-Kashmir

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles organized a seminar on August 5th, 2024, to mark the Youm-e-Istehsal-Kashmir. The event drew participation of academicians, members of the ethnic media, as well as representatives from major Pakistani-American community organizations based in Los Angeles. The event marked the fifth anniversary of India’s unlawful steps in regard to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK).

Consul General Mr. Asim Ali Khan briefed the participants on the significance of Youm-e-Istehsal-Kashmir and the grave situation in IIOJK. He underscored that despite the egregious violations of fundamental human rights perpetrated by India against the oppressed Kashmiri people, their determination remains unwavering. The Consul General reaffirmed Pakistan’s unflinching political, moral, and diplomatic support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir until they realize their inalienable right to self-determination, in accordance with pertinent United Nations Security Council Resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiris. The Consul General also read special messages from the President and the Prime Minister of Pakistan on this occasion.

Connecting Cultures: Pakistan’s Entertainment Industry Networking in Hollywood

The Consulate General of Pakistan in Los Angeles hosted a networking event aimed at promoting Pakistan’s film, drama, and music industry in the Hollywood.
